A twenty-first century mini-department store over two floors of a beautiful listed building on Corsham’s historic High Street - the finest in Wiltshire.

We sell a wonderful range of interesting goodies at unbeatable prices - so if you’re looking for an unusual, well-priced gift that the receiver will adore, then look no further: homewares, clothing, accessories, softest leather bags, jewellery, man-gifts, toys, stationery, plus quirky vintage and retro items.

Corsham is an architectural gem, set in the lush Wiltshire countryside, a film location for Poldark and only a few miles from the M4, Bath, Devizes and Bradford on Avon. There is easy parking and lots of good lunch options, including our own in-store cafe, where everything is home-made, often home-grown and under £5! We serve smooth, locally roasted coffee from Dusty Ape, local teas from Iford Manor and amazing home-baked cakes.

The first Previous Homewares store in the High Street opened in 2015 and quickly became a local favourite. The opening of our own retail outlet was a natural progression after several successful years as part of the ‘Domestic Science’ shop in Tetbury, a feature in ‘Country Living’ magazine and customers such as: Lily Allen, Bill Nighy, Kirstie Allsopp, Jamie Dornan, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and Guy Ritchie – there really is something for everyone!

We moved to our new, much larger premises across the road in July 2018, as Paul Martin (of TV’s ‘Flog It!’) moved into our old location.

There’s always something new and fascinating in store, from unique vintage finds to covetable brands. Clothing labels include: Bibico, Armor Lux, Great Plains and Eribe Fairisle knitwear. Homewares include: Hannah Turner, Rice, Grand Illusions, Quail’s Egg, RepeatRepeat, Redecker, Chilly’s Bottles, Diana Wilson, IB Laursen and True Grace candles. Toiletries include: Priddy Essentials, BathHouse, Proraso, and Captain Fawcett. Jewellery includes: Ania Haie, Studio MHL, Old Farmhouse and a couple of ranges exclusive to us in the UK. Toys include: MeriMeri, Maileg, Bigjigs and lots more. Accessories range from Roka bags to Kaweco pens and Bills watches. We also have the best range of cards in town!

The owner, Nicola White, is a former design history lecturer and author who taught at leading art and design colleges for decades. She is also married to an architect, so knows a thing or two about selecting beautiful, useful and unusual pieces. The aim is to inspire and delight our customers and whether you are looking for something at 50p or £50, for a gift or something for your home, we will gladly offer free advice on putting looks together. If you are looking for something elusive, then we are happy to source that extra special item.

We’d love to see you, so pop in, say hello and have a browse, you never know what treasures you might find - you can even bring your dog, or make a day of it, as some customers do, stay for lunch and tea, combined with a wander around our wonderful town and a visit to Corsham Court and its free 350 acre park, designed by Capability Brown. If you can’t make it to the High Street store, selected products are also available online, but you will miss Bunty and Stanley, the charming, if cheeky resident terriers.

Nicola White, Business Owner

I grew up in the Cotswolds, surrounded by countryside, antiques and dogs. I have enjoyed a successful career as an academic design historian at some of the country's (and the world's) best known universities, leading the Cultural Studies department at St Martins College, for example and publishing several books. After a lifestyle-led decision to move back to the country, I have built my business selling vintage homewares for the last six years at Domestic Science in Tetbury. I live near Corsham, married to an architect, (with two children, two dogs, a cat and four chickens) and have renovated more houses than is probably sensible.

My customers range from regular locals who know they'll find the useful thing or perfect gift they are looking for, to visitors who make a special journey and tourists who might stumble upon us, but are delighted by the often unusual things we stock. They include quite a few famous names, designers and film companies: Lily Allen, Bill Nighy, Emilia Fox, Sade, Jamie Dornan, Kath Kidston, Camilla P-B, Kirstie Allsop, Edith Bowman, Andrew Lincoln, Soho House and Poldark! Previous was featured recently in Country Living Magazine and there is a Previous Antiques Facebook page.

I am very happy to offer my free expertise to help you put looks and pieces together.
